We often refer to hydrosols and flower waters, but what exactly is a hydrosol?
Hydrosols originate from the process of steam distillation: Steam is moving through different parts of plants, leaving a watery solution with essential oil at the top. While essential oil is being siphoned off, hydrosol is what remains. It is water, containing small parts of essential oil and water-soluble components of the distilled plant.
